Education & Research

Art  -  Design  -  Social Engagement

My education and research practice explore how art can be a site of dialogue, collective inquiry, and shared meaning. I focus on the intersections of visual culture, community narrative, and public pedagogy. Whether through museum learning materials or informal discussions in public space, I am interested in how creative practice can make cultural narratives accessible and participatory. My work approaches art and education not as the delivery of information but as the creation of a space where reflection and connection can occur. Each design presented here is of my own creation.

RAFFMA

museum education + educational material design

As an education intern turned graphic design assistant, I created a set of educational sheets for the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art at Cal State San Bernardino. Each sheet was created for one of the exhibitions held at the museum with the intention of providing context and expanding on each exhibition.

Museum learning is a collaborative process between the viewer and the material. I translate curatorial research into materials that foreground cultural context. My work emphasizes accessibility and shared interpretation, creating space for students and community members to recognize themselves in the narratives presented.

Maloof Foundation

lesson planning + oral history

At the Sam and Alfreda Maloof Foundation for Arts and Crafts, I bridge the gap between art, history, and the sciences. My work with the foundation began with lesson plans that bridge the arts and STEM by incorporating both scientific and artistic exploration while introducing underrepresented  historical figures significant in those scientific fields.

Following this work, I was invited to join the foundation as an Oral History Research Intern to I investigate the cultural and labor histories of Southern California’s citrus industry with particular attention to communities whose stories have been historically marginalized. This research involves archival study, oral interviews, and the development of interpretive frameworks that consider how land, labor, and cultural memory intersect in the region. Across both phases of this work, I focus on creating pathways for understanding and engaging with local histories through art and shared learning.

Pathways To Success

workshops + graphic design

Through my work with the Pathways to Success program at Cal State San Bernardino, I support community college and university students in navigating the transition to university life. This role centered on accessibility, mentorship, and building a sense of belonging through peer-to-peer mentorship. Beyond classroom visits and resource sharing, I focused on cultivating relationships that encouraged students to define success on their own terms.

Alongside peer mentorship, I also prepare educational materials for the program in the form of flyers and workshops which are grounded in making resources clear and approachable. My workshops discuss topics such as portfolio creation, the importance of an online presence, and developing networking skills. My goal is to demystify processes that can feel inaccessible and to provide tools that support both confidence and agency in navigating the university environment for both students and their families.

Students for Quality Education

community engagement + graphic design

My work with Students for Quality Education centers on understanding and communicating the  conditions that shape student learning within public higher education. Through workshops,  public conversations, and the development of visual materials, I engage students in discussing issues such as access, transparency, and the lived realities of navigating  institutional systems. This work often extends into public-facing contexts such as  speaking with local media where I helped speak on student experiences and situate them  within broader conversations about equity and educational policy. I view this advocacy as  a form of public pedagogy, connecting research, community knowledge, and shared inquiry to imagine more accessible and supportive learning environments.
